Think of it this way:

Anet wants NONE of these things to happen. They'd gladly sanction all violations.

However, with thousands of players online all the time, it is not physically possible to monitor all that's going on.

What happens is that Anet will prosecute those activities that do most harm actively, but will act on the lower threats and harder to detect threats when found.

So, what to do? You find a violation, let Anet know. And that doesn't happen on this forum - you need to contact Anet directly, so they can start an investigation.

Second, you must realize that Anet will need to see some evidence. Screenshots are a start, but another important thing is exactly when and where things happened. If these are provided, Anet can check their own logs for evidence.

And in the end, understand that a perfect solution is impossible. It is impossibl e to completely eliminate scamming, abuse and botting. A botter only needs a few hours to get new accounts and set up a whole new batch of bots. The goal to aim for is that all the violations are kept at a tolerable level.

They seem to do fine with chat spam, but yet not with racism. Why is the question. WHy focus on something that is only annoying, and forget about something annoying and offensive?

The chat spam was dealt with when people started to complain, well, Lets say, I'm not complaining, just begging for something to be done.

Why would the ones playing by the rules have to leave so the abusers could do whatever they want?

Why should I when the channel is meant for chatting? No one could say a word for the rest of the year in local, but it's still doesn't matter. The channel is meant for people to converse not sell things. There's a whole other channel made specifically for that.

And what the hell could we possibly be jealous about? Don't know if you've noticed, but post of the crap that's getting spammed is either just that or so common that everyone and their uncle's mom on their half-brother's side already has it.

You make no sense.

Ok someone is a little sore. Just remember its a game before you go name calling to people not even involved

You say everyone knows its used for trade? Im aware that the trade channel is used for trade. Thats its purpose, Anet was nice enough to put it there. The chat channel was put there for chat not trading. Its difficult to grasp I know but there is logic there

Anyone who wants to trade will have the trade channel turned on. People who dont will turn it off. You dont loose any potential sales by using the trade channel, you will reach those wanting to trade without annoying those who dont.

Also you choose to do this after Anet put a warning on the login screen about doing exactly what you did? You break the rules, you get punished. Hopefully next time you will use the correct channel, if not, well you will just keep on getting bans.

The fact is they do ban and/or act on all those offenses. But they can't be everywhere all the time. Some they can catch themselves, but others they have to rely on others to report.

Oh and District 1 of the former "trade districts" is so nice and quiet from the spam that used to be there. Now the screen doesn't scroll constantly and you can actually hold a conversation or help the newbies in All Chat. So refreshing.

This morning I recieved a 72 hour suspension for this, all I would do is say my trade twice then switch channels. I often get the excessive messaging in normal conversations because I type too fast. I think the problem this time is that I was selling in normal chat, which I was in an inactive GW period when that update took place, and did not know it was against the rules until it was too late.

But Anets eagerness to jump on "criminals" like me, or other honest mistakes lands me a 72 hour suspension, putting me out for the entire HA weekend I had been preparing for . Even though the people that are not accepted to a group, or are angry are constantly spamming in PMs or global, but more excessively than sellers, and usually with a more colorful vocabulary.

The warning was up for a few weeks, its not something they put up recently.

@ Wispir, for people like you I do have sympathy,I mean there was no way for you to know, except maybe go to their site, but then again not everybody does that. You just got unlucky, what can we say :| ( sorry dude)

I think they should leave the Trading in Local warning up, i don't know why they removed it :|

Yeah and I look at the site all the time, I still can't find that warning. All I see is no excessive spamming in global chat, which I wasn't because I would do a couple messages then switch districts.

The person who has taken over a friend's account has intently gotten her account suspended twice for sending a racial slur to a companion who screened it...

You shouldn't have spammed in the first place. It's common decency. Not that you'd have any considering you couldn't even spare 10 seconds to read a warning.
